Applicance Problems

Today has been one of those days. My washing machine stopped spinning the water out of my clothes last night, so I had to call a repair man today. He came over and said the motor is going out and there is a possibility that it could catch fire if it over heated too much.

Ok, that is where I draw the line. I am not having anything in my house that "may" catch fire. I have been washer hunting today. I did find one and being in a small town it was delivered today.
I love it so much. I will try to take pictures of it tonight.

I have not had time to post the new contest today, since I have been dealing with this issue today. I will get the contest up hopefully tomorrow. I just wanted you all to know that I have not forgotten about the contest. Thanks so much for understanding.

Thank You

I was looking at my blog today and I noticed that I have 305 followers. I was not expecting that. A great big THANK YOU to everyone that is following my blog. When I first started blogging a few months ago I did not think anyone would want to read what I was writing. I started finding some great giveaways and talking about my sweet golfergirl and people started following. I said to my self that when I reached 300 followers I was going to have a great giveaway. Well, I have reached 300 and I am going to announce a give away tomorrow that is going to be great. It involves more free Oscar Mayer Beef Franks and a lot more so tune back in tomorrow for that new giveaway. I was not really totally ready because I thought I had a while before reaching 300.

I want to really thank you for following it means so much to me.

Quotable Sunday- Goals

It is Sunday and that means it is time to go over to A Daily Dose of Toni and join in the fun for Quotable Sunday. Last week was the first time for Quotable Sunday and I loved it. I loved reading everyone's quotes. So I am back for another week.

This week we have been talking a lot about goals, what they are, why you have them, how to achieve them. As most of you know Golfergirl loves golf and she has been taking lessons. She was watching the U.S. Open on TV last week and one of the golfers was talking about his goal was to get to play Sunday at the U.S. Open. Golfergirl asked what he meant by that. I explained that he wanted to play well enough in the tournament that he made the cut and got to play in the final rounds of the tournament. She looked at me and said if he wanted to play Sunday all he had to do was show up.

For those who do not play golf, in a professional golf tournament they play four days. The first two days everyone that is entered in the tournament plays. In order to get to play on the third and fourth day you must make the cut. Which means a number is set that players must meet in order to play. The number is different for each tournament because it based on the leaders score. It is complicated and that is not the purpose of this post, but I had to give a little background. Into why you can not just show up and be in the finial rounds.

After we talked about goals, I asked her what one of her goals was. She said " I am going to be the first girl to play the U.S.Open." I told her that was great and if she worked hard enough she could achieve it. I explained that it was not going to be easy ( she is not old enough to explain how hard it will be to get into a all male tournament ).

She told her coach today about her goal. I cringed at first not knowing what he was going to say. He looked at her, handed her a club and said lets get to working on that. She just beamed.

I am sorry about the long story today but I wanted to give some background on why I picked Goals for my quote. Golfergirl picked them out and we are going to frame them for her to look at in her room.

Goals

Setting a goal is not the main thing. It is deciding how you will go about achieving it and staying with that plan.- Tom Landry

How do you go from where you are to where you want to be? I think you have to have an enthusiasm for life. You have to have a dream, a goal and you have to be willing to work for it.
Jim Valvano

If you want to achieve a high goal, you're going to have to take some chances.- Alberto Salazar

I hope everyone has a great Sunday and be sure to go over to Toni's for some more great Quotable Sunday.

We have been married 10 years and I love him so much.

Handbag Giveaway in RED

I love handbags and I really love handbags that come along with makeup kits. Everyone in my family knows this as well and I ended up with two kits with the same purse from Signature Club A I had ordered one of the kits and my Mom had also ordered one for me as well. I absolutely love their products. Since I have two purses that are identical, I decided to give one of the purses to one lucky reader. The purse is brand new and has never been used. I just do not have a need for two purses that are identical. Now the difference in the one that I have to give away and the one in the picture is the color. The purse that one lucky winner will receive is RED not gold. The makeup will not be with the purse. Did I say I loved the makeup?

Ouchies Band-Aids Review/Giveaway

Golfergirl is getting to that age where some of the bandages with characters on them are to "babyish" for her. She thinks she is too big for the Dora the Explorer, Flintstones and Blues Clues band aids. Now Golfermom does not agree with this. I want her to stay little forever. She however does not like the "plain" ones either. So for a long time we had problems balancing the two. Usually she went for the "baby" ones but was not happy about it.

When I was given the opportunity to review Ouchies I was very excited to show them to Golfergirl. You see Ouchies are made for the older child who has gotten to big for the "baby" bandages.

Ouchies are fun and very affordable. They come in a very cute tin box decorated with cool designs. They come in Teen-Ages girl, Teen-Ages boy, and Golfergirls favorite Make Your Own come in 5 bright colors and 3 markers. Golfergirl loves to decorate her own bandages.

About Ouchies came about from an idea of a Daddy with the encouragement from his wife to bring a cool look to bandages.

The only negative I had is they are a little too sticky. We left the bandage on a couple of days because the scratch was "not healed" yet and it left the skin red and sticky. We should not have left it on so long, so when you use them just leave them on a little while and they will be great.

Golfergirl says they are great and she wants more.

Buy them
If you would like to know if Ouchies are available in your area click here.

Giveaway:
I am pleased to announce that TWO lucky readers will win their choice of two Ouchie Tins. Mandatory entry: Go to the Ouchies website and tell me which Ouchies brand that you like.

Extra Entries:

1. Become a fan of Ouchies on Facebook. (2 entries)
2. Follow my blog on Networked Blogs. (2 entries) The follow button is on the sidebar.
3. Follow my blog on Google Followers (1 entry)
4. Follow me on Twitter @golfersmommy (1 entry)

The contest will run until 11:59 pm Central Time on July10th, 2009. A winner will be chosen by random.org and will be announced on July 11, 2009. Please leave an email address where I can get in touch with the winner. Open to US addresses only.

Diane Birch Review

I love music, so when I was given the chance to review the Diane Birch album Bible Belt
from One2One Network I jumped at the chance. Her music is very soulful. She wrote all of the songs on the album. Golfergirl even liked Diane Birch's music. Her favorite song is Fire Escape.

Diane Birch's Bio says:

For singer-songwriter Diane Birch, music was a refuge. Although Diane was born in Michigan, her childhood was spent on the move as the daughter of a preacher, living between Zimbabwe, South Africa and Australia, before her parents finally settled in Portland, Oregon. When she was in her early teens, Diane absorbed a unique and cosmopolitan perspective on life that shines through her music and makes a simple categorization of it impossible.

The result? Diane Birch sounds like an old favorite, with all the sparkle and magic of a breakthrough talent. People says she sounds like a combination of early Carole King, Linda Ronstadt and Stevie Nicks, with a little Joss Stone and Cat Power mixed in. Bible Belt is only her first record, but it’s one of the most accomplished albums you’ll hear all year. From the opening track “Fire Escape” to the closing “Magic View,Diane’s stunning voice is mesmerizing.

Written entirely by Diane, Bible Belt was recorded in New York City and New Orleans with an impressive team of Grammy-winning producers: S-Curve Records founder Steve Greenberg, soul legend Betty Wright and Mike Mangini, in their first project together since producing Joss Stone’s first albums.

Chloraseptic™ Allergen Block Review/Giveaway

We have a lot of allergies in our house. GolferDad, Golfergirl and myself. Golferdad just has allergy when he mows the grass. Myself and Golfergirl have it year around and asthma.

When I was offered the chance to review Choraspectic AllergenBlock I decided to let Golferdad give it a try. It is very easy to use. Chloraseptic Allergen Block is a gel that you put on your nostrils and upper lip and it acts as a barrier between allergens and your respiratory system. Golferdad says it is not greasy and it works pretty well. I was glad that it was not greasy since I hate to have anything on my upper lip. He said that he did not sneeze as much when he was doing the yard work.

Allergen block is drug free so you do not have to worry about any drug reactions or side affects. It will not make you sleepy like a lot of other allergy meds.

I have a tub of Chloraseptic Allergen Block to give away. Mandatory entry is to go to Chloraseptic and then come back here to tell me which product you would like to try.

Extra Entries: Mandatory entry must be completed before these will count.

the right sidebar for the follow button.

Clear Ears Water Absorbing Ear Plugs/ Review

Summer is here and that means a lot of swimming at our house. The swimming however always leads to swimmers ear too. Swimmers ear causes Golfergirl a lot of pain.

So I was very excited to get to review the ClearEars products from CircusHealthCare. These are ear plugs that you put in after swimming an it absorbs the water left in the ear from swimming. It could also be used after shower as well.

They come in a 5 pack plastic container that is very easy to put in the beach bag to take with you to the pool. The ear plugs are placed in the ears and wait 5 to 10 minutes and then remove them.

We have used them twice and so far we have not had to go to the Dr. for swimmers ear. I hope it keeps up. I will continue using these to keep her from the pain this summer.

Another plus of these is when you are finished using them cut them up and place them in the soil with potted plants. They absorb the water to help keep the soil moist.

Information from the company:

Water trapped in the ears after swimming or bathing can be very uncomfortable and may lead to ear problems such as Swimmer’s Ears. The revolutionary, patent pending, product, ClearEars, is a soft, comfortable earplug containing a FDA approved polymer which draws water from the ears.
  • Works fast in only 5- 10 minutes.
  • Safe for kids and adults.
  • More convenient than ear drops providing on the spot relief.
  • Earth friendly as ClearEars can be reused to help plants retain water. See package for details.
  • Alcohol free, dries and relieves.

Golfersmom and Golfergirl like this product. If you would like to buy ClearEars click here.

Wordless/Wordful Wednesday

Golfergirl had just joined the Brownies when they asked her to participate in the flag folding ceremony. She was so excited and I was so proud. Usually she does not want to do things like that in front of a lot of people but the little girl with her is the BFF so that helped a lot.

Home Free Treats Review/Giveaway

I have been allergic to eggs all of my life. I have never been able to eat "store bought cookies" since they all had eggs in them. My mom always made me cookies and cakes so I was never deprived but I still did not get to just open up a box of cookies and eat it. When kids brought cakes or cookies to school I could never eat them because they probably had eggs in them. When I was given the chance to do the review for HomeFree treats I was so happy. They are Organic cookies that are peanut free, egg free, tree nut free and dairy free. I got my samples in the mail and I was so excited. I opened the package and ate the Oatmeal one. It was sooooooooooooo good. It was moist and sweet just like I liked them. Golferdad is very picky and does not like a lot of new things. He tired the Chocolate Chocolate Chip cookies and loved them. He even wants to order some more.

Jill Robbins is the founder of HomeFree. This is what she has to say about the products:

" As a mom, and a clinical psychologist, I realize how important it is for kids with food allergies to feel included at social occasions, where a sweet treat is often part of the fun.

I created HomeFree bakery, with a line of delicious, wholesome cookies and cakes, as well as a baking cookbook full of easy to make allergen-free recipes, so that kids with food allergies can enjoy treats along with everyone else.

Seeing the smiles on the faces of the kids eating HomeFree cookies and cakes, you'll feel good knowing that these really are treats you can trust."

Jill Robbins

HomeFree not only has the cookies and cakes already made and ready to eat, they also have a cookbook and the ingredients needed to make some of the great treats. HomeFree treats have the following items available:

Big Cookies:
Chocolate Chip
Chocolate Chocolate Chip
Oatmeal

Mini Cookies:

Chocolate Chocolate Chip

Cakes:
Apple Coffee Cakes

Baking Cookbook
with Allergen free baking recipes

You can buy the HomeFree treats here

Please leave a way for me to get in touch with you in case you win. I will email the winner on July 8th and the winner will have 48 hours to get back with me or another winner will be announced.

I can not believe that it is Friday. I am so glad it is however. This has been a crazy week in our household. I could use some fun tonight so I am glad it is VGNO over at Ann's tonight. It is officially summer hear in the south and the heat and humidly has come in full force so I could use a nice cold drink tonight.
