My First Giveaway SafteyCaps

Everyone wants their kids to be safe. When I found out that I was pregnant with Brookster, one of the first things I thought about was baby proofing not only my house but the grandparent’s house (I knew Mom was going to be the babysitter). We bought those plug covers in order to protect Brookster from the electrical outlet. I never thought that the outlet covers could actually be dangerous. Neither did George DeCell. His daughter Sage choked on one of those plug covers. George knew he needed to do something, so he created SafteyCaps.
When I received the safety caps in the mail, I compared them to the plugs I still have in the outlets. It was clear that the safety caps are a better product. George created them in the shape of a pacifier with the safety holes that are required on pacifiers.

They are clear, so they blend into most outlet covers. A real big plus for me is they are made in the USA, Vermont. George tried to petition the Consumer Product Safety Commission twice in order to try to get the outlet plugs regulated. They told him that since no children have died from this they are not willing to regulate these devices. It is hard for me to believe that some child has to die in order to have something regulated. I guess I am more proactive, save something devastating from happening instead of having the devastation happen then regulate the items. George is trying hard to get the word out about this issue. He wants all bloggers to contact The Ellen Show and Oprah to recommened Safety Caps and the need for regulation. I have emailed the The Ellen Show and Oprah with a recommendation of SafteyCaps. If enough people respond maybe they will listen. It is amazing what a group of parents can do when they get together for a common cause and I think our children’s safety is a great cause.

If you would like to order a set of SafteyCaps please go here.

George has offered to give one of my readers a free 24 pack of Safety Caps. To win please recommend SafteyCaps to The Ellen Show and Oprah. Come back here and leave a comment that you have contacted both of them.

I have been Tagged 7 things

I have just been tagged by one of my newest blogging friends Dawn @Ryleeforlife

Here are the rules: 1. Link to the person who tagged you 2. Share 7 things that people may not know about you 3. Tag 7 people to share 7 things and link to them. 4. Let them know they have been tagged.

Ok, a list about me. Let me try to think about some interesting facts about my self.

1. I grew up in a very small town where everyone knew your name. The only fast food restaurant we had was Sonic and that did not come to town until I was in High School. Small towns are great expect when you are teenager and does something wrong. My parents would know about it before I ever got home

2.I have a learning disability and was told by some teachers I would be lucky to get out High School. I showed them. I have a Bachelors degree in Education and a Masters degree in Higher Education and Counseling.

3. I was raised a Southern Baptist but about 4 years ago we started going to a United Methodist Church. We love it.

4. I have been a Cheerleader coach for Brooksters cheer team. That was an inexperience, but I loved it because I got to spend time with Brookster.

5. I have just recently decided to be a WAHM. Still scared about the finances but know that the time I spend with Haley is going to well worth the struggle.

6. I love NCAA Football and Basketball. My Team the Kentucky Wildcats however need a new coach.

7. I love the ocean.

So now you know 7 more things about me.

Now to choose 7 people. I choose:

1.Opus #6 @ MAinfo
2. Mama Krit @ My Simply Savvy Life
3. Tess @ Six Feet Under...
4.BlueViolet @ A Nut in A nutshell
5.Frugal Mama @ TheFrugalicious Mommy
6.Michele @ The Professional Family Manager
7. Sherry @ CVS Deals and Other Steals

Can not wait to learn more about everyone.

My First Review

Thanks to One2One Network I recieved my first item to review. A debut album from Dancing with the Stars Mark Ballas and Derek Hough. They have formed the band Ballas Hough Band I was not sure what to expect when I turned on the cd player, but I was very surprised at how good the album is. Brookster was dancing in the middle of the floor to "Do it for You". My favorite song on the album was "Do you Love Me" I put the CD in the CD player while I was cleaning house and the upbeat nature of the songs helped the time pass away. Cleaning is never a fun chore at our house but the Ballas Hough Band made the chore a very fun one today.
Just cllick here if you would like to buy the album

Thank you so much

I wanted to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers during my surgery. It was a little more complicated than thought but I am home. I am so glad to be home. Being in the hospital for three days was no fun being away from my Brookster. She was a real trooper thru it all. She tried to be brave but I could see how scared she was. The look on her face when I walked back through the door was priceless. She has now gone to the store with my Mom in order to get food that I can eat. I guess she did not think Mom could do it alone. That is so sweet. I am tired so this will be short but I just want to thank everyone again for their thoughts, prayers, calls and emails while I was sick. It is great to be a part of such a wonderful community as Mom bloggers.
Thanks again.

We Love you Linda

This has been a sad week at our house. A very good friend of the family Linda Sue died this week suddenly. She was one of my mom's very best friends. She was one of the strongest people I have ever met in my life. She had so many helath problems, diabetes, leg amputee, lost all of her hair but she was always smiling and laughing. She did not have any children of her own and she lived her life through her friends kids. She was like a second mother to me. I do not remember a time when she was not in my life. I could call her at talk to her about anything and she would not tell my mom which was very good when I was younger.
I grew up knowing and loving Linda and so did Brookster. Brooskster loved her so much. She did not want to go the funeral or the funeral home to see her body. She wanted to remember her the way she last saw her. I respected her wishes and she stayed home. I know that I am rambling tonight but I just needed to get this all out.

We love you Linda and I know that I will see you again in Heaven. Take care of Shag and Papa.

She wants to go where!!!!!!!

Brookster is taking golf lessons. Her coach gave her a homework assignment, to look up how much it would cost per year to go to the college of her choice. I thought oh no big deal, just go look some small college around her and that would be that. Oh no, not my Brookster. She sat down in front of the computer and said "This is a very important decision that will affect my future" ( where did that come from, she is only eight) Which could be another reason she made the choice she did. I asked her where she wanted to go and she said Vanderbilt University. Imagine my mouth flying open and my jaw dropping to the floor. Vanderbilt is one of the most expensive private schools around here. We looked it up on the Internet and it was 54,000.00 a year. That is gasp gasp 216,000.00 for four years. She told her coach and he had the same look that I had I think. I know I could not see what I looked like but I can imagine. He told her she really needed to practice and get good grades so she could get a scholarship. She shurged those little shoulders and said "no problem" I thought this will not last she will change her mind. Fast forward three weeks.............. Her report card came home today and she made straight A's again. She does make very good grades. I was telling her how proud I was of her and she said thanks, I am going to get into Vandy yet... Ok, so she has not forgotten. Anyone know of a second, third, fourth job that we can do in order to get our little golfers to her dream college. As long as she has a dream I will always try to help her achieve it. It may send me to the poor house to do it however!!!!!!!!!
