Looney Tunes Eating Rights Kids Program

I am teaming up with Warners Brothers and Momlogic to bring you information on the Looney Tunes Eating Right Kids Campaign. It is very important to me that Golfergirl is eating healthly, so this was an opportunity I could not pass up. I look forward to bringing you information about this wonderful campaign. I will also be having an awesome giveaway soon from Looney Tunes.

Overview of Looney Tunes Eating Right Kids Program:
Warner Bros. Consumer Products and Safeway, Inc. have teamed up to create a better-for-you line of food products for children, uniting flavor and nutrition with the iconic Looney Tunes characters. Each product will feature such world-renowned Looney Tunes characters as Bugs Bunny, Tweety, Taz, Sylvester, Wile E. Coyote, Roadrunner, Marvin the Martian and Daffy Duck, who serve as ‘Mother’s Helper,’ making it easy for moms to spot better-for-you food and beverage items for their kids that taste great.

Statistics on Childhood Obesity:

Obesity is a growing problem among our children nationwide, which, if not addressed, can lead to severe health issues in adulthood. As parents, teaching healthy eating habits and educating our children on how to choose to eat healthy is one of the best habits you can instill in your kids.

o According to a 2009 study, almost 1 in 5 American 4-year-olds is obese – that’s more than half a million 4-year-olds.
o The number of overweight and obese children (10 to 17 years old) is at or above 30 percent in 30 states.
o Research has also shown that overweight and obese children generally go on to become obese adults, with all the chronic, weight-related health issues that involves, such as heart disease, diabetes, and high blood pressure.

About Warner Bros. / Safeway program:
Warner Bros. Consumer Products has partnered exclusively with Safeway to offer better eating choices for kids: the Eating Right Kids food and beverage line that features the beloved Looney Tunes characters.
o The line is an offshoot of Safeway’s Eating Right line for adults. Warner Bros. Consumer Products’ and Safeway’s Eating Right Kids initiative was highlighted by the Federal Trade Commission for its ability to have a positive impact on childhood obesity.
o The Eating Right Kids Food Line featuring the Looney Tunes Characters offer more than 60 items across 18 categories including breakfast foods, produce, portable meals, dairy, snacks, beverages and frozen entrees. The line is available at more than 1700 Safeway locations throughout the U.S. and Canada.

Bake Me A Wish Review and Giveaway

About the Company
Bake Me A Wish is the premier nationwide delivery service for gourmet birthday cakes. Each cake at Bake Me A Wish is made with the finest and freshest ingredients and created by an award-winning New York City bakery that provides pastries to some of Manhattans most elite restaurants. Through cost control and air-tight delivery systems they can bring each gourmet cake to you at affordable prices.

My family loves cake and chocolate so when I was given the opportunity to review a Triple Chocolate Enrobed Brownie Cake they were excited. This is how the company describes this cake:

Our moist & fudgy brownie cake goes through three chocolate "passes" before it's "done": first it's enrobed in rich chocolate, then it gets completely blanketed with a shower of dark chocolate shaves; last, the cake is finished with milk and dark chocolate glazes drizzled all over and the Belgian chocolate plaque of your choice; for a brownie dessert that's over-the-top-triple-delicious!

Does this cake not look delicious?

The Review
We used this cake for my birthday celebration. It was wonderful. The cake is so moist and gooey.
I was a little worried about a cake being shipped from New York to Tennessee. It came packed in dry ice and was in perfect condition. It was delicious. Golfergirl and Golferdad loved the cake. It was nice to have a gourmet cake for my birthday instead of having one that I baked.

Operation Birthday Cake
5% of your order will also be contributed to Bake Me A Wish!’s Operation: Birthday Cake, which, with our partner Soldiers’ Angels donates birthday cakes each month to soldiers overseas. I think this is a wonderful program. It is nice to know that soldiers are getting a delicious cake for their birthdays.

Win it
One Golfersmoms reader will get a Triple Chocolate Enrobed Brownie Cake

Wizards of Waverly Place CD Review/Giveaway

I don't know about you but I have watched so much of Wizards of Waverly Place that I know what is going to happen before it does. We are having a Wizards of Waverly Place Movie Premier Party August 28,2009. When the CD came in the mail Golfergirl was beside herself. She could not wait to listen to it. I now know all of the songs on this CD by memory since I have listened to it so much. LOL.

In case you do not know about the Wizards of Waverly Place it is a TV show on the Disney Channel. The show stars Selena Gomez as Alex Russo. Alex and her two brothers have magical powers that they are not suppose to use with parental approval. Alex however does not head this warning which is what makes the show funny. She usually uses the power and gets in some kind of trouble.

The Wizards of Waverly Place album features new songs and interpretations of classic tracks from the ‘60s, ‘70s and ‘80s, each one about magic. The CD includes several new songs performed by series star Selena Gomez, including “Disappear,” the rock ballad “Magical,” and the show’s theme song “Everything is Not as it Seems.” The CD features exclusive behind-the-scenes interviews with Selena, plus her all-new music video. Also included on the CD is “Hannah Montana” co-star Mitchel Musso with a version of “Every Little Thing She Does is Magic” by the Police; the all-girl rock band KSM performing the 1968 Top 10 smash from Steppenwolf, “Magic Carpet Ride;” Meaghan Martin covering Olivia Newton-John’s #1 1980 hit “Magic;” “You Can Do Magic” by Drew Seeley; and Aly & AJ’s version of the Lovin’ Spoonful’s “Do You Believe in Magic.”

“Magic” by Selena Gomez, “Magic Carpet Ride” from KSM, and “Magic” by Honor Society will be featured in Wizards of Waverly Place The Movie, an adventure comedy complete with more than 350 special effects, premiering Friday, August 28 (8:00 p.m., ET/PT) as part of the Disney Channel Original Movie franchise.

As I have stated before Golfergirl loved this one. For me a lot of the songs were repetitive but you know this is not geared toward my age group.

The great people at Disney have offered to give 2 of my readers a copy of the CD. This would be great for Christmas presents.

To Win

Please leave me a comment on who you would give this CD to if you were to win.

Golfersmom's Review:

I love skin care products but I am picky about them since we have so many allergies in our family. I was given the opportunity to try several products thanks to Belli and Living in Style.
I am not pregnant nor do I have baby but I am a mother. I received products from each line to try. I tried them all. No one in the family had Asthma attacks or allergy problems from any of the products. Now for this family that was a feat
t in itself.

My favorite product was: The Pampered Pregnancy Body Wash

I am not pregnant but this body wash smelled so good I was hooked. It has Lavender Oil. Chamomile and cucumber as the main ingredients. It made my skin feel so soft and I loved the smell of the lavender.

I am so glad I had the chance to find this new company and the wonderful products.

PakNak Charms Review/Giveaway 4 Winners

What is a PakNak? (from the website)

PakNaks are fun soft rubbery 3-D decorations for kids (and adults too!) to personalize all of their stuff. Backpacks, lunchbags, headbands, computer bags, household items, the list is only limited by your imagination.

Pak Nak's come in over 40 different designs and if you wanted to design one just for you that option is available also. Each PakNak is named so they are unique.

Golfergirl and Golfersmom review
PakNak's can go on any surface. Golfergirl chose her backpack for hers.

Here is what Golfergirls backpack looked like before.

We received two PakNaks for review. Kyla Jane the butterfly and Robert the robot.

They were so simple to put on. There is a round Velcro piece and the rubbery PakNak.

Peel the backing off the single round piece and place where you want the PakNak to go.

Then place the PakNak on top of the Velcro for the finished product.

Golfergirl really liked hers. She liked that she got to decorate her backpack to make it unique from everyone elses. She likes that she gets to try things others have not seen. My little trendsetter. LOL.

I was afraid of how they would stick to the backpack and the Velcro. She has been in school three days now and the butterfly is still in the same place. That says a lot considering that backpack gets thrown around all over the place.

I like that they are washable so if she was to get something on it I could wash it off. They are so cute. They have designs for girls or boys.

Buy it:
If you would like to order some PakNaks click here. They sell for $3.99 a piece. Think stocking stuffer for Christmas. All Golfersmom readers can get a 20% discount if they use the code PAK20.

Win it:

Kids Lunch Box Cards -Review

When Golfergirl started Pre-School, I started a tradition that has continued. On the first day of school I always wrote a note and placed it in her lunch box. When she would go to lunch, she would find the note. Then I would send a note other times during the year as well. I was not sure if this year she would still want a note since she was my "big third grader" ( insert Mom in tears here) Wednesday was her first day of school this year. She reminded me that I needed to write her a note this year. She said it made her feel like Mommy is with her. Now Mommy really was crying after that statement.
Mommy is having a hard time with the little girl growing up and all. To know she asked for a note meant a lot to me.

This year I had been asked to review KidsLunchBoxCards With these cards I got to write my note on the back and she had a fun little something to read on the front.

About the Company (from the website)
KidsLunchBoxCards are a super-fun alternative to the humdrum lunch-time napkin note. They revolutionize communication between moms and kids at that vulnerable time during a long school day. A special note that says...

Each day your child can open their lunch box and receive a card like this...

They scratch off the silver box to reveal the answer. The back of the card looks like this:

The cards can be placed in a child's backpack, lunchbox or sent as a post card. The cards come
5 to a pack enough for a weeks worth of cards. There are 6 different packs to choose from:
Camp Laughs, EEEWW, That's Gross, Real Looney Laws, Mystical Little People, It's a wacky world and Riddles
Mom and Golfergirl Review

I was sent two sets of the cards. Riddles and Mystical Little People. I was very impressed with the cards. They are bright, colorful and very sturdy. Golfergirl loves riddles so for the first day I used one of the Riddle cards. Golfergirl had no idea that I had the cards so it was a total surprise when she opened her lunch box. I love surprising her. I wrote a little note on the back just for her.

When she got in the car yesterday from being picked up, she said she loved the card. Now she did not realize that she was suppose of scratch off the silver box to find the answer. She had brought the card home to save in her special box so she was able to scratch the box off and find the answer.

I asked her if she thought other kids would like these cards and she said of course. Who would not love something from their Mommy. She is so sweet.

Buy it:
You can buy the cards for $3.95 to $4.95 a pack here.

Thanks Gina for the opportunity to review this product.

Big Eye Dummies Review

Golfergirl absolutely loves stuffed animals. She is very picky about which ones she likes. She has one brand that she has a lot of. I wanted her to try something new so when I was given the opportunity to review a new type of stuffed animals I jumped at the chance.

About the company
The company is called Big Eye Dummies. I just love this name. Big Eye Dummies are designer plush with interchangeable eyes and mouths. Sorta like a Mr. Potato Head but in a plush animal.
There are 6 different animals to chose from. Each comes with 2 sets of interchangeable eyes and mouths. One set is sewn onto the animal and have to be snipped off prior to playing. Big Eye Dummies are tested in independent laboratories in America. Each plush animal complies with the European and American Toy Safety Standards. They are approved for all ages but recommended for ages 2 and up. Big Eye Dummies has won the Creative Child Magazine's Preferred Choice Award.

Golfergirls Review
We received Slicka the penguin. Golfergirl says it is a "Penguin with an attitude". She loved him.

She loved that his eyes were different. She would use her imagination to change Slicka around to all kinds of crazy combo's

I asked Golfergirl if there was anything that she would do to improve the Big Eye Dummies and she had two suggestions. 1. Have a carrying case or something that the extra eyes and mouth could be kept in. I put them in a ziplock bag but it would have been nice to have a place to keep them. 2. To have more than 2 sets of eyes and mouths to change out.

Buy it:
Big Eye Dummies can be bought on line here or at retail stores near you.

Win it from Big Eye Dummies
Big Eye Dummies is giving away a free doll every month! If you want to enter their contests, become a fan of Big Eye Dummies on Facebook instructions are listed on the site.

Thanks so much to Big Eye Dummies for the opportunity to review this product. Golfergirl had a blast playing with him. ( she said it was a him)

SONIC Drive In Review/Giveaway 3 winners

SONIC is Golfergirls favorite restaurant in town. When I was offered the opportunity to receive a Gift Card to go try out their Wacky Pack meals, I knew this going to be a winner with a certain DD. She was always talking her Mimi into taking her after school for a snack last year after school. I think she is worried this year that I am picking her up she will not get to go very much.LOL.

At our SONIC you can either stay in your car to order and eat or you can walk up, order and eat at tables sit up outside. Golfergirl is always wanting to eat at the table so this time we did. It was nice sitting out under the umbrella's. It was a little hard to hear when I was ordering because of the noise of the music playing. We got it order however with no problems. The girl that was taking the order was very nice and did not seem to get upset when I had to ask her over and over again a couple of time to repeat the order.

DH ordered the Extra Long Chili Coney Dog, Fries and a Drink. I ordered the Regular Cheeseburger, Onion Rings and a drink. Golfergirl ordered a kids Wacky Pack chicken tenders, tator tots and milk. The GC covered everything and we had some left over. I guess Golfergirl and I can come back for that after school snack next week. LOL

Our server was very nice and came back a couple of times to ask if we needed any thing else and how our food was. We just usually get the food and bring it home so it was nice to sit outside and enjoy the day.

SONICS Waky Pack meals meals meet a number of USDA Dietary Guidelines for Americans and recommendations for children’s nutrition. SONIC recommends children get a Wacky Pack meal that consists of two all white meat chicken strips, apple slices with fat-free caramel dipping sauce and one percent low-fat milk. This combination provides your child protein, calcium and fruit. Now, Golfergirl did not want the apple slices she chose the tator tots instead. O well I can win every nutritional battle with her. At least she ordered the white meat chicken strips.

The Wacky Packs come with a cool toy in each one. For August the toy is August in Smart-a-Gon and in September the toy will be a Hero Force collectible.

At our SONIC they were upgrading any drink that you buy with a Meal Deal to a Route 44. I am not sure if that is something going on at all SONICS and how long it will last. Might want to run on over and check out if it is in your town.

SONIC is wanting people to try their Wacky Pack meals so they are giving 3 lucky readers of Golfersmom a chance to win a $10 GC.

Stolen Moments Menu Planning Review/Giveaway

Golfergirl starts school on Monday. I know that once schools starts our lives are going to be getting a lot more hectic. Her school starts at 7:15 this year. She will still have golf practice, Brownies, and I have agreed to help on the PTO at her school. I do not have time to think up new recipes let alone time to think what we are going to have for supper every single night of the week. Yes, I know that that would make life easier but like I said will not have a lot of time.

I was so glad when I got to review a new website Stolen Moments Menu Planning.

About the company:
Stolen Moments Menu Planning delivers fully personalized menu plans to your email inbox weekly or monthly. Each email includes a complete menu plan, recipes, a detailed and organized-by-department grocery list, bonus recipes, and tips and tricks to help you take advantage of stolen moments in the kitchen.

Stolen Moments Menu Planning is different from a lot of the other Menu Planning services because it catered to you and your families needs. To get started you will be taken to the Stolen Moments Menu Planning Personalization Survey. Here you will be asked questions such as:

How would you like your plans delivered? You decide if you want the menus sent to you monthly, Bi-Monthly and Weekly

How many servings would you like each meal to make? We have 3 people in my family but I wanted to have left overs so I asked for servings to feed 6.

Would you like your menu plans to include bulk cooking and freezer cooking recipes and plans? So if you are one that can cook a lot at one time and have the freezer space this would be awesome. I do not have enough freezer space for that so I chose no.

Please list any special cooking methods you use in your kitchen (ie. crockpot, pressure cooker, etc) and how often you use them. I do not really have any special cooking method.

Please list any foods your family does not like. We have an allergy to eggs so this was where I listed this. I just use egg beaters in place of the eggs.

Please list any food items that you would like to have included. Organic, types of cuisine, etc. I did not list any of these since I was trying to get some new ideas.

Please select the monthly grocery budget that best fits your family. This helps on making the plan since they need to know the budget to make the menu plan fit that budget.

Any thing else? Add any other information that you think would help in creating your menu plan.

There are 4 different Subscriptions to choose from.

Basic Plan-
  • Fully personalized and customized dinner menu plan, recipes and detailed & organized complete grocery list for every day of the month (Delivered to your inbox weekly, bi-monthly or monthly, per your preference.)
  • Bonus recipes in each email with ideas for snacks, desserts or other meals
  • Tips, tricks and ideas for making the most of stolen moments in your kitchen
  • Optional plans for bulk-cooking, leftover makeover and/or freezer cooking
Complete Plan
  • Fully personalized and customized menu plans for breakfast, lunch and dinner for every day of the month. Each menu plan comes standard with recipes and a detailed and organized complete grocery list. (Delivered to your inbox weekly, bi-monthly or monthly, per your preference.)
  • Bonus recipes in each email with ideas for snacks, desserts or other meals
  • Tips, tricks and ideas for making the most of stolen moments in your kitchen
  • Optional plans for bulk-cooking, leftover makeover and/or freezer cooking
Basic + Budgeting Bonus or the Complete + Budgeting Bonus:

The budgeting bonus provides sales prices of your specified, local grocery store on your weekly grocery list. It also highlights possible coupon match-ups that correspond with your grocery list. (Please note this service is only available for chain grocery stores that publish their ads online.)

Family Tested:
I love this service. I chose to have the menus come once a week. I have the Complete Plan where the shopping list comes with it. I love that each item listed for the week has a recipe that comes with it. Now I do not use every item on the list but I have found a lot of new and great recipes. If you would like to see our Menu list for the week of July 12 -18 please click here. The menu helps me to come up with something new and exciting for Golfergirl to eat. Our favorite so far is the

Unstuffed Peper Skillet Dinner ( that was on our July 26- August 1 menu)
Ingredients
1 pound of ground beef
1/2 onion, diced
2 carrots diced
3 large green peppers cut into chunks
Salt and Pepper
1 15 oz can tomato sauce
1/2 c. water
1 t. Italian seasoning
1 t. Cumin
3 c. fully cooked rice

Instructions
1. Brown ground beef and onions in a large skillet. Drain. Add carrots and green peppers. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Cook for 2-3 minutes. You want the peppers to stay somewhat crunchy.
2. Stir in tomato sauce, water, Italian seasoning and cumin. Bring to a slow boil, reduce heat and simmer for 10-15 minutes.
3. Stir in cooked rice until heated through. Serve and enjoy. (or refrigerate and reheat in oven or microwave just before serving)

Golfergirl really liked this one. There are some very good ideas that come on this menu plan. I highly recommend giving it a try. I have tried more new foods since I have been receiving this plan. It has brought some life back into my boring same ol same o meals that I used to cook all the time. I print each of the menus off and place in a 3 ring binder so I can save it as a reference book later on.

Buy It:

Basic Plan: Regularly $9.95 on sale right now for $7.95 a month.

The Complete Plan: Regularly $17.95 on sale right now for $14.50 a month.

The Budgeting Bonus is an additional $12 a month.

Win it:
The great people at Stolen Moments Menu Planning have agreed to give 3(three) lucky readers a 1 month complete plan subscription. Is that not just wonderful.
